I think I can speak for most people when I say that a mother’s love is truly one of the most impactful aspects in a child’s life. I know mine is. It is because of this very reason that I am more than honored to present the Best Mom Award to my mother, Ligia Moya.
I truly believe my mom is the very best at what she does and has given a lot of effort into making me the very best at what I do. She has always been there for me and always pushes me to accomplish greater heights, even if I’m not always certain I can do them. I remember back when I was younger how much trouble I was for her sometimes. I think that when we are given so much all the time, we tend to overlook and take for granted all the kindness that is constantly being shown to us. Even though I wasn’t the most well-behaved kid growing up, my mom always made sure to attend to me in any way she could. My mom was never one to hold a huge grudge against me, always forgiving me even when I took things too far. She was always supportive of me but can be really stubborn when it comes to asking for help for herself. She doesn’t like to throw stuff on other people at all. Every time she would ask something of me, it was usually toward my benefit because I really do enjoy helping her out. I couldn’t tell you how many times my mom has sacrificed her wallet just to make me happy. I remember when I was like 6 or 7, really wanting the Nintendo Switch since all the kids at school seemed to be playing on them. My mom wasn’t doing the very best financially at the moment, but she also understood how much the new game would mean to me. I didn’t get the Nintendo right away. Instead, I received it on my birthday. I wasn’t aware of this at the start, but now I know that she had taken the time before my birthday to save enough money to buy it for me.
My mom raised me to be a respectable and pursuing person, especially when it comes to school. She wants to make sure I succeed, and although she’s strict about it sometimes, I know it’s all love. She makes sure to congratulate me every time I achieve something, even if it’s something as simple and repetitive as getting honor roll. She is always right there to tell me how proud my efforts make her. The only downside to all this love is that she tends to stress a lot about me, always worrying about little things that are never that serious. Regardless of that, she still has a lot of trust in me and knows that I am just as capable on my own. My mom is a very hard worker but sometimes forgets to enjoy time to herself every now and then, so it makes me more than grateful to see her smile. Even now, she continues to demonstrate her undying love for me, and I know I will always be able to rely on her.
