Racism is a major problem in society and there aren’t enough people choosing to work to help this issue or some are choosing to ignore this problem. Racism is when people are treated unfairly because of their skin color and it affects so many people of all ages and backgrounds. Racism is still happening mentally and physically. We as people are older and know these problems in society. There shouldn’t be an excuse to help out or completely shut out these problems. Little kids are still learning all of these new things and ideas, and it’s sad that anyone has to live in a world where racism has been going on for decades and it’s still an issue. There are so many forms of racism in society, one of them is police brutality. Police brutality is excessive and unnecessary use of violence used by police. This is a violation of civil rights and a significant issue. After George Floyd’s death, the amount of black people who were killed by police have actually increased according to NBC News.
George Floyd’s death is one of the many examples of how unfair and unjust this is to all the families that have lost their loved ones, who have been innocent. An African American kid named Tamir Rice who was 12 years old was shot by a police officer after playing with a toy gun in the park, according to news5cleveland. It took 4 minutes for officers to help him. He sadly died in the hospital the next day. Even though he had a toy gun in his hand and he was shot right on the scene, the police officer just shot him right there without investigating further. The police officer’s name was Timothy Loehmann.
This wasn’t just a mistake. This shows how biased the system is against black kids and people of color in general. The police seem to react differently depending on who’s in front of them. I don’t know why people choose to do these horrible things and at the end of the day everyone is human and the same. It hurts to see people are so quick to assume something when they don’t like someone and want to put the blame on them when they aren’t doing anything wrong. We need some police to have better training, more accountability, and trust. There are so many people’s untold stories and that was just one of the many of them. That should be a wake-up call.
Many people have heard about it and still, there is still no justice for these people. All these racism problems are severely underrated to society and people choose to ignore these intense problems. We need to address this problem and reduce the amount of racism that’s happening to the world and try to prevent these things from happening. We need to raise awareness and provide support and create a society where people aren’t scared to walk outside their house, where people don’t have to hide or run. We need to protest for what’s right or at least share this information with others to help who’s in need.
To really take action on this, we can educate ourselves and listen to others who have the same experiences. We can raise awareness and share important information and speak up on these issues anywhere. Lastly, educate children on this topic because it’s really important for them to learn now so when they are older, they know.
