Why I Hate Pay to Win Games

Why am I so angry? The reason I am angry is because more games are becoming pay to win and this really bothers me and makes me frustrated. The reason this bothers me so much is because you shouldn’t have to pay money to have fun, because that takes out the fun from having fun! Also games that are pay to win and are fun to play and really interesting can be ruined with the pay to win scheme of the game. It can push away the free to play players.

Another reason why this topic angers me so much is because when you have a game that’s pay to win it can give huge disadvantages to the people who don’t want to spend extra money on a video game, and make those people feel like they’re not important to these game developers. This can also make the game feel of lesser quality and make it seem that they just want your money which can make the game look bad and push away more players. As someone who likes to play video games for fun it can be annoying when the only way to make progress on the game you’re playing is by spending money.

An example I have of this is with the game Clash Royale and how their new “evo shards” which basically upgrade your character and how most of the time the only way to get these shards is by paying for them with actual money! Sure, you can spend money to get the game but I don’t think you should be spending even more money on the game you already bought.

Another reason why I care so much about this topic is because most of the time the reason we play video games is to relax or to just chill, and having a pay wall in the game your playing or some clash pass such as in clash royale can make the game less appealing and make you want to do something else. This makes it that less and less OG players stick around and more and more players come and eventually no one will remember how the game used to be before everything became pay to win.

A solution I have for this problem – or a step we can take to help end this problem – is by letting the developers of these games know how we feel and what they can do to fix this problem. Another step we can take to help end this problem is to boycott the games that refuse to listen to their community and let them know about our problem. One thing we could do to help stop this problem is by going on social media or on blog websites to let people know how we feel about this problem so that more awareness can be raised. In conclusion, the reason I am so angry about games becoming pay to win is because you shouldn’t be able to buy success, you’re supposed to earn it.
