Hey everybody. I am so grateful to have this opportunity to write about my favorite player Derrick Martell Rose. It is an honor to be picked to write about my favorite player by the NBA to give a speech at one of his games. Even though I am not a friend or family member to Derrick Rose, I am a really big fan of his. I was so excited when my basketball coach asked me if I was interested in writing about my favorite player, and I might get picked by the NBA to give a speech.
I was born and raised in Chicago just like him. I am a big Bulls fan. Even now when the Bulls are not doing so great this season. When Derrick was there the Bulls were an average playoff team. The Bulls would go to the playoffs every year. On the Bulls Derrick averaged 19.7 points. This was good for a new player that has not been in the league for that long.
Derrick Rose was my first favorite basketball player. This was because we had a lot of things in common. He is 6’3. That is kinda short for the NBA. I think right now I am one of the shortest people in my grade. The fact that he also grew up in Chicago made me like him even more. To watch him play and see what he could do at his height just made me boost my confidence a lot.
You always try your best. You never quit. You always keep pushing and that is what I like about you, Derrick. You have raised my confidence, and for that I say thank you.
