Hey there!
I’m you but from 8th grade. Pretty cool, right? I know you are just starting 6th grade, but I had to give you this message. Your next years will have a huge impact on you. Not only physically but mentally as well. Although we have been told that we have to be strong, there will be times when you begin to doubt yourself. Where you feel weak and that you cannot overcome anything. You will feel helpless. You see, it will be a hard time, but you will persevere and push through this. A wise turtle once said, “Your mind is like this water, my friend. When it gets agitated, it becomes difficult to see. But if you allow it to settle, the answer becomes clear.” (Kung Fu Panda) You might have overlooked the meaning of this quote when you watched the movie. But looking back now, it really makes sense.
I know you want to join the volleyball, basketball, soccer, and flag football teams. You want to help everyone, and you still want to get good grades. You have to balance your school life and your extracurricular clubs. You will feel overwhelmed. You will begin to lose sight of what’s really important, yourself. You won’t know whom to confide in and you will try to keep it to yourself. You will want to succeed and do what others do, but you won’t be ready yet. And that is perfectly normal. Listen to me when I say, you will get through this. You will make great friends who will continue to stay by your side no matter what. You will have a lot of support in these upcoming years. You will experience different emotions during all of this. There will be happy, dreadful, embarrassing, gloomy, and many more unforgettable moments. This might sound terrifying but these will shape you into a better person. I am proud to be where I am right now. You might not feel like that, but one day you will get this feeling.
You will understand the importance allowing your water to settle. Focusing on yourself while still helping other people. You will have the support from your teachers, friends, and especially your family. You might be wondering, is there any way to avoid these feelings? My answer is, no! I know you feel that you can do everything yourself. That time will be on your side and you won’t have any problems. Everyone faces challenges, even you. Like I said, you will be proud of who you are becoming. You might be angry at yourself, or even disappointed. Trust me, never give up and your hard work will show you the results. I love you a lot, Little Me, and don’t let anyone tear you down. Keep your head up and aim high to your heart’s desire. Live your life and the bottom line is to be happy in whatever you do. I can’t wait for you to be in my shoes. Do your best and keep going.
Love you lots ❤︎ ,
Jules
