Dear Past Self,
I just want to say hi. I hope you are well. Wait until you see what lies ahead of you. I just want you to know you shouldn’t take this like a joke or too seriously it’s going to pass you just have to be patient. You are going to be in quarantine for a little while just don’t lose sight of what’s important. You will start remote learning and it will be easy at first but it will get more challenging as time goes on. Make sure to stay on top of all your work. If i would’ve known this would all be happening i would have been prepared. I didn’t take it very seriously at first because i only thought we would take a couple of weeks off. It’s been a month that we’ve been in quarantine, it’s hard to keep up because you lose energy and lose motivation to do anything at all. I think this pandemic will effect our future very badly. Schools in Illinois are supposed to be closed for the rest of the school year. Very many people will be set back, especially 8th graders and seniors. It’s our year to graduate we’ve looked up to this moment and we worked so hard. What if there’s a chance we never go back to school? COVID-19 is going to be something normal to us now. It will be like the flu. Comes around during certain times of the year and it will be serious. We will have to move forward with our lives never knowing how much more different our lives would have been if this had never happened. DO NOT I REPEAT DO NOT LET YOURSELF BE OVERPOWERED BY YOUR EMOTIONS. Stay positive and focus on the important things in life. Don’t worry or stress yourself over everything. It is going to pass and we just have to be patient. I also wanted to let you know about the summer bridge with DMSF. You’re gonna have fun and you’re gonna learn new things. You’re also gonna meet new people and make new friends. Just be prepared to wake up early so make sure to get enough sleep. Remember to use everything you learn in bridge. Always be prepared for what’s coming ahead.
Best,
Keyla Lopez – Chicago Hope – DMSF
