Letter to my future self

Dear Future Chase Marriott,

You need to remember that you are one of the most creative, smart, and coolest people out there! You really don’t get better than you! Having a positive mindset is the most important thing when you are trying to learn something new. You need to focus on the good things and not only try to persevere through the bad things but also avoid them. You need to keep trying to focus in classes and courses you take because that is the only way you will properly learn something. One of the most motivational things that helps you is listening to music, you are able to focus better and are able to do things more efficiently.

Try putting yourself out there during college, try to meet new people and also be open to meeting new people. Your experience will be much better. The best way to get things done is not only pushing through them but also accepting them. Focusing on the past and mourning about it doesn’t do anything but put you down. Really try to focus on the future and how you can make the best of it.

I am very proud of doing OutWardBound for the first time in 8th grade. I don’t know if you have done more of it, but just remember how hard that was and how you got through that. The most important lesson anyone has ever taught me was when my dad told me that feeling bad for yourself never gets anything done. The only way you can change what you don’t like about you or someone else is by actually doing it. Let your regrets be lessons for the future. If you don’t like something about the world change it.

My family is the most important thing to me and I hope you never lose your relationship with them, keep them close to you. Following your gut is very important if you ever are indecisive just trust your gut. I value my pride a lot—don’t forget that. I hope you have done many things that you love in the future and are able to do the things you love. Are you proud of yourself and if so why? Always make goals for yourself and make them reachable.

If you are reading this and you are anxious or worried just remember how awesome you are. Don’t ever give up. It will get better at some point. You are quitting if you give up just don’t do it and always push through the pain. Remember the things that are important to you and don’t forget those—always try to be the best you as possible. The most important thing ever in life is happiness. If you are not happy you are doing it wrong. There is no doubt in my mind that not having happiness is bad. Just really try to focus on making others happy and not only that but making others feel good about themselves. That is one of the things you really enjoy doing.
