Dear Young Writers,
Have you ever thought about giving up on a piece of writing? If so, what made you give up? It might have been because you were frustrated it was taking too long to write, or you got stuck and didn’t know what to write about. Whatever it was, I’m here to tell you why you should never give up and what you should do if you get stuck in your writing.
Giving up is not a good thing to do, as I’m sure many people have told you, but it is especially not good to give up when you are writing because it leads to many other problems such as not finishing your project or even getting discouraged in being a writer. Being a writer is one of the most rewarding hobbies or occupations you can have because it lets you express the creative side of your mind that many people do not have or are afraid to explore. If you wake up in the morning and say “I feel like writing something”, then you ARE a writer. Whether you start off with short stories or poems, never think you are not making it as a writer. Every great writer started off somewhere; greatness is not created over night.
My advice to you as a writer, my friend, is to never stop dreaming, never stop looking for inspiration in everyday life. If for some reason you find yourself with Writer’s Block, take a walk outside or a deep breath and visualize what type of story you are trying to tell. Try to visualize what choice of words will grab your audience’s attention and hold them there. A writer’s mind is a creative and powerful thing. Never be afraid to tap into the greatness you are born with.
