This is a letter to you Mom to let you know how grateful I am for having you in my life. You have been there with me and my siblings for our whole lives, tirelessly caring for and supporting us. You are a hard worker, waking up every morning with a smile even if you are tired or unwell. You make us delicious food every single day even if all you just want to do is go back to bed and rest your eyes. When you used to work you would wake up early every morning to make food for the rest of the day, and would come back really tired to do the chores we couldn’t do. That is one of the reasons you are my hero. Because without you I don’t know where I’ll be right now.
Mom, you have taught me life’s simple lessons like brushing my teeth and tying my shoes to imparting valuable life lessons. You have taught me that education is essential and that if I want to live better than we are right now, or if I want to one day travel around the world I have to focus on my education. That is why I always try my best to get the best grades to go to the school of my dreams and achieve my goals.
Mom you have seen me at my best and at my worst, you have put up with me all these years. You’ve seen me cry with sadness and with happiness. You’ve seen me struggle and reach my goals. You’ve seen how crazy I am at home and how shy I am outside, you’ve seen my two sides. You always tell me what a mess I was when I was just a baby, how nobody could carry me just you and Dad, how I used to grab yours and my brother’s ear. And you see me now taller than you, and almost taller than Dad and my brother, you see how I work hard to get good grades at school. And you saw me completing a chapter of my life at graduation and flipping the page to start a new one. And you have seen my other siblings do the same leaving you and Dad behind to begin their lives as you taught us. You just have left my little brother and me. But in a couple of years, we will do the same thing and you’ll remember when we were just little kids like it was yesterday, and you’ll see how time has flown.
So, Mom, I promise you that when I get older and have a job that pays well, I will make up for everything. I will take you to Italy, Paris, and any other place you want to visit. I will buy you the things you never had but wanted to. I will buy you your dream car, and give you a lot of money even if you don’t want it so that you and Dad don’t have to work anymore. I will go to the house and prepare food for you and Dad so that you can rest and don’t have to cook, I will cook you all the delicious dishes you cook for me and my siblings. So please stay here so that I can fulfill the promises I made you.
So here’s to you, Mom – thank you for everything. Your love and support have shaped me into the person I am today. I love you more than words can express, and I promise to make you proud.
