Every single human being has had at least one goal in their life. It does not matter if it was an easy goal or small goal, it is still a goal and should be treated as one. My goal while writing this was to encourage you to pursue your goals. I am doing this because I know how hard it can be for some people. I want this to reach someone’s heart and have an impact on their way of thinking. Thus, I’d like to guide you into the mindset you should have to strive for your goals.
Unfortunately many people give up on striving for their goals. If someone says “You don’t have the potential to do that!” you are the one who decides to listen to them or not, most listen to them but changing your mindset to a positive one is key. Research at the University of Delaware states that 90% of people give up on their goals that were set as their New Year’s resolution within the first few weeks. So, now imagine the amount of goals a person could have but they give up despite all the books, sites, quotes and even people out there who encourage you to move forward. Not giving up because a person discouraged you or lack of self-confidence is crucial to attain a goal achieving mindset.
A goal is one thing and a dream another. You need to define whatever it is you desire if it is a goal or a dream. In order to do this, set a goal that you know can be achieved. It’s a goal if you can take action on it and it’s a dream if you only imagine it. This quote’s something people have mixed feelings about, however it’s the truth that you’ll have to face throughout your life. “A goal without a plan is called a delusion. You need a plan in order to achieve your goal.” Before I decided to see the positive side of the quote I would come across it and refuse to comply with it. Now I see it is essential to have a plan for a goal in order to pursue my then dreams and now goals. Planning for a goal is crucial. Another fundamental quote to keep in mind is “If you don’t try you’ll never know. “ Another step to take is to always be willing to try new things, it could bring many positive outcomes. I always keep that type of mindset now that I have better experience and understanding of those steps and you should too.
However, those three steps are not the only ones you’ll need. Those will get you started but once you start you need to push forward with the following steps. When pursuing a goal, know the cost and understand what you want. You have to know and understand what it is you want to accomplish. You have to be willing to take the measures required to achieve that goal. For example, If you are an introvert and detest socializing but your goal is to start a business or make new friends, you need to put aside your fears and make it your friend instead of your enemy. When you comprehend and acknowledge the obstacles and fears you may face you will need another crucial step, motivation. I cannot express how much motivation matters. Motivation is essential. If you do not have motivation you will not pursue whatever you are trying to achieve. Without it you are more likely to fail. I am not saying failing is horrible, because as long as you learn from it, try your absolute hardest and have resilience you will eventually get better at achieving goals and being stubborn to not give up on that goal. On the other hand if you fail on purpose because you are not trying to the best of your abilities you will not get to where you want. It is extremely important to keep that in mind.
Therefore, when you apply all these steps into your mindset you will be a lot more likely to succeed, and to pursue your goals. If you came to read this without having the slightest idea where to start now I hope to have provided you with useful advice. Pursue your goals and fight all the obstacles. Change your mindset into a goal setting one. And most importantly the last step, don’t give up when striving for your goals.
