You must be wondering why am I writing how to shoot a basketball? Well let me give an example, Imagine yourself you are going to shoot a free throw and you don’t think at all how to shoot the ball, so you just blast it and you miss. You may be upset at yourself and you may think you did good but in reality you really don’t know what the steps are. But don’t worry Wendy Rincon is here to the rescue!
First things first! The first thing in order to learn how to shoot a basketball right is you have to have a good stands. You have to have your legs shoulder width apart that is point to the direction of the basketball net. But don’t have your legs really apart to the point where it makes you feel uncomfortable because when you shoot you have to be comfortable. After you have to turn your same leg that is mostly use for shooting to the center of the rim. Next when your about to shoot the ball have your legs and hips a little bit or pretend like you are sitting in a chair. I want you to squat and pretend that there is a chair behind you. So when you shoot the ball you can have a lot of strength to shoot the ball. Okay now that we have a good stands we have to focus on now how to hold the ball and shoot it!
When you are holding a basketball you have to make sure your fingers are wide enough and that your finger tips hold it and your palm is on it. When you are about to shoot a basketball you have to make sure your shooting hand is in a 90 degrees apart from the ball.Than on your dominate hand is going to be your guide hand so whenever you shoot it helps you be stable and keeps your shot straight. After that you have to make sure your wrist pushes the ball when shooting so the ball can arch.
Once you are done doing that and have a comfortable shooting position I want you to throw the ball and make sure it curves.
Last but not least is I want to give you some tips that my coaches have given me when shooting. Don’t worry we are almost done! When you are shooting always try to aim to the white backboard because it will most likely help you get into the basketball net. When you are done shooting don’t just stand there run and go get you rebound because there is a 50% it won’t really go in. Also, when you are going to shoot a free throw always look at the three rims of the net when shooting because it will help you get it in. Additionally, always remember to always correct your shot! It’s okay to mess up because everyone mess up and to always remember to have a good mindset and always remember that the next one will be better. Now I hope you enjoyed on learning on how to shoot a basketball and now go have fun and go hoop!
