Some people might say braiding hair is hard. To me it is easy and I love it. In the process of braiding, you first want to start by going to the beauty supply store and getting the materials you will need. The materials you need are
1. Braiding hair (one that you like the most or is the best price and quality),
2. Braiding gel and edge control and make sure to get the one that holds your hair the best,
3. Combs and with these make sure you get a “rat tail” comb because it will help very well when parting and separating your hair. If you don’t have this at home you may also want to get a moisturizer to put in your hair and also a 3-way mirror if you think that will help you see your whole head better. Now that you have all of your supplies you are young to want to separate your braiding hair into the desired size. If you are doing small braids you are going to want to have a small section of hair to weave in. If you are doing a medium braid you are going to want to do a medium section of hair and the same goes for jumbo or big braids. Now that you have your hair sectioned you are going to want to part your hair into the desired size. Split your hair that you parted into three pieces then grip your hair and start braiding your hair but not fully. Now you are going to want to grab a section of braiding hair and tuck it into the corner of your real hair you braided down. Then make sure you have a good grip on the hair and the braid and slowly braid down. Make sure you add hair whenever you feel you need to. Also, make sure that you are adding enough gel to your hair. Once you get the hang of it then you will find braiding very easy and fun. A reason why I started braiding hair is because I wanted to do hair when I get older and also because going to the shop you will have to spend a lot of money to get your hair done whereas if you do it yourself you can fix it or start over if you don’t like it and you don’t have to pay anyone at the end. On average when I go to the shop to get my hair done it takes about 6-8 hours and costs around $250.Remember when you first start braiding hair it may not be perfect or how you want it to look but practice makes perfect and the more you practice the better you will get at it. I recommend getting a doll head and practicing on it if you want to get the idea of how to braid and grip the hair. Another resource that I think may be helpful is watching a YouTube video while you practice braiding. This helped me a lot while practicing. I know braiding may seem hard but I promise in the long run it is worth it and you will love it.
