Let’s talk about it: Project 2025 and its plan to DESTROY our rights

In a time and age of technology and progression, it’s easier and faster to know the newest trends and news in seconds. A time where Gen Z are becoming a part of the working society and more important decision making. But are we able to?

Anyone with a form of social media or watching the news should be aware of Project 2025 and its purpose. Project 2025 is a document released to the public on April 11 of 2023. This document is nine hundred pages and its purpose is, by definition from Wikipedia, “is an initiative organized by the Heritage Foundation with the aim of promoting a collection of conservative and right-wing policy proposals to reshape the United States federal government and consolidate executive power…”

You might be wondering; ‘Why does this matter?’ or ‘How does this concern me?’

The answer to that is everything

Project 2025 is a project aimed towards minorities, women, and the future of Gen Z. In this document, it covers many topics, from taking control of the government and public servants to the restrictions on civilians and welfare. The document addresses, “far Left’ or ‘Wokeness’ of the people, and how it’s not an ideal of the USA. To be more specific and express the seriousness of this topic, i’ll give a few examples of what’s within the document.

On the sixth page of the document under the heading of “Foreword’ describes their goals with this document. Written is how they’ll restore America back to its glory, and one of these goals was restoring families as a pillar in American’s life. Their whole ideology of restoring families and protecting the children is taking away women’s rights and suppressing the rights and help we have as citizens. They express that the lack of fathers in children’s lives is a leading cause for many problems in one’s life such as, mental problems, poverty, dropping out of school, and ect. This could be a reason for some, but their resolution to this? By reinforcing more requirements for financial support for single-parent households and ‘promoting’ marriage.

If making it harder for households to provide for their families, will encourage the people to get married, the dependency on men will increase for financial support, which would cause more problems. This idea of forcing people to depend on another is toxic and an old way of thinking, especially for our new day and age.

Stated on the 471th page of this document, it states,”. Providing funding for abortions increases the number of abortions and violates the conscience and religious freedom rights of Americans who object to subsidizing the taking of life.” This statement shows that their idea of helping Americans is enforcing their own beliefs onto the people, taking away the rights of women’s bodies. If this law was passed, imagine all the little girls and women victim to sexual crimes and were unable to get the support they needed to raise the children they were forced to have.

‘Why don’t they just give it up for adoption or a foster home?’ You might think, and you’re right, these are solutions. But at the cost of taking and removing funds of abortion centers and others alike helping these women. These systems are not the greatest for children. Filling an already full and unstable system with more children would not be solving anything for anyone in this situation.

Trying to take away the rights of women and not helping them is beyond wrong and ludicrous, but is that all? Within a nine hundred page document, not even a bit.

Another topic that is written is about work conditions and laws passed to protect groups of people in the workplace. This topic is very important if it were to be passed. As our generation begins to get jobs, the doors will be more open to discrimination without any protection to help us. With an already growing number of 31% refusing or avoiding hiring gen z to work with them for someone older, source from HRDrive, it’ll make working a job you need harder, especially for minorities.

Written by Max Primorac on page 258 under the heading,’Agency For International Development’, it states,”The next conservative Administration should dismantle USAID’s DEI apparatus by eliminating the Chief Diversity Officer position along with the DEI advisers and committees; cancel the DEI scorecard and dashboard; remove DEI requirements from contract and grant tenders and awards;…” This statement in simpler terms is that they want to disband the Diverse,Equity, and Inclusion in workplaces. DEI is an organization that protects and promotes equity from race, sex, sexual orientation, and disabilities. By disbanding this organization in the workplace, many would face discrimination and would be demolishing the diversity and inclusion in jobs.

The progress our generation is making is trying to undo this project. There are many other problems within the document, such as refusing funds towards transitions for trans-people, not giving work to immigrants, pulling back from supporting public schools, and many more. This is a serious issue, especially as a black female in today’s age with these acts directed towards me and many alike. Imagine how difficult life will be for young adults, people of single-parent households, the low income population? How will the future of the government look if this law was passed? People, especially young people, should be discussing this more than it already is with the elections coming up. This document will ruin many livelihoods if passed, and for future generations of children.

How do we, the adults of the generation, solve this? Michael Harriot, another person who has read the entirety of Project 2025 came onto MSNBC to express his thoughts towards this question. On the episode titled,’The ‘evil genius’ of Project 2025 and its attack on American freedom’, Michael said,” Voting is just the star, but the activist population that just talks about voting, we also have to get involved in politics, so things like this won’t come true, because once this becomes voting will be ineffective….” This statement expresses my same ideals. If we do not act now, the act will change everything we have as citizens of America.

We, the present and future of our generation, need to speak more about this. This outrageous act will jeopardize our rights and actions. People need to know more about this project, especially for people outside of politics, because as the people of the states, this involves all of us.

This project plan has been out for over a year, and it’s time we start talking about this. Project 2025 will ruin the US, and have to get involved to stop it.
