Message to My Anchor

Everybody has a person that makes a big impact on their life and for me that person is my mom. As her 35th birthday comes near I want to take a moment to recognize and honor all of the great things that she has done for me, from the love she has shown me all of my life to teaching me leadership, kindness and how to be open-minded and most importantly she taught me the value of hard work, which is something that I carry with me everyday whether it’s staying late after basketball practice to work on my jumpshot or pushing through academic challenges. She has played a big role in making me the person that I am today from teaching me how to lead with patience and kindness to showing me what it means to stay humble and work hard through her own actions such as going back to school while working a job. She is not only a mom to me but my biggest supporter and teacher. From as far as I can remember she has always been there, I mean even since I was two she was always by my side, helping me learn my ABC’s, how to count and so many other great things, but one of my most favorite things about her is that she very caring and supportive whether it was helping me study for a spelling test late at night, cheering me on loudly in the bleachers at my basketball game or just telling me that I can do anything that I put my mind to and giving me that motivation to keep going and giving my best. Now the most amazing thing about her which I find very impressive and hard to do is how she can handle so many responsibilities at once, she the type of person that can come home from an 8 hour shift and help you with your homework, cook dinner, check on you even though she is tired and probably has had a long rough day, but it amazes me how she can do all of this and still make it look easy and this letter is to let her know that I appreciate her and all of the hard work that she has been doing my whole life and without her I don’t know where I’d even be at. She is one of the most intelligent, sharp and bright person that you could ever met, I mean seriously no matter the situation or how hard things may get she always find a way to push through even when it seems impossible to do so and not only does she finds a way to keep going she teaches and inspires others  to keep pushing as well. Another trait of hers that is special to me is her communications skills, it doesn’t matter if you’re a co-worker of hers, a friend or a family member she always make you feel respected, gives undivided attention, and will give you some great advice that you may have never thought of before. What makes her so special to me is something that you just can’t get, me seeing her go through these massive hardships like almost being paralyzed and having to learn how to walk again to seeing her catch the bus just to go to work, has made our bond very strong, she is someone I can go to and talk to about anything and that is something that I cherish because some people don’t like to talk to their parent or parents about things. Mom, you have inspired me and amazed me countless times. Watching you work overtime for days in a row, go back to school while working and still being caring, loving and kind showed me that anything is possible and what true hard work, dedication and support looks like. The many sacrifices and hard decisions that you have made for me have not gone unnoticed and they have molded me, to not only want to be successful for me but to show you that all of your hard work paid off.

Happy Early 35th Birthday
