Visual Communications

Hello, my name is Joshua Allen and I have one question for you: have you ever wanted to make your own brand, logo, or wallpaper? If you have, then read this blog and you’ll be able to, but if you haven’t then stay, because you might want to after I tell you how.

You can make your own brand, logo, wallpaper, profile picture, etc, by learning graphic design. Graphic design can help you with a lot of things in the future, for example: businesses, projects, drawings, and more! Graphic designing can bring your ideas to life! Being a graphic designer can also make you a more reliable person to your friends, because what if they have a business or clothing brand and they need a logo? You’ll be the first person they call!

I first got into graphic design in 7th grade. My school had a podcast and they needed logo’s, so I decided to help. At first it was confusing, but then I got comfortable with it and continued to get better at it. The app I used was Canva, which isn’t the best app for graphic designing, but probably the easiest to learn.

Now, let’s learn where to start in graphic design. First, you want tona find a good app. I recommend Kittl because it’s like Canva and it’s better. Kittl has good cutouts and it can enhance your images. Cutouts are exactly what they sound like, you’re cutting out something in a picture. You can also make clothing brands on Kittl, but it’s a little bit difficult. Next, now that you’re in Kkittl or whatever graphic design app you choose, just play around! Try to make a wallpaper for your phone or computer; just explore. The more graphic designs you make, the better you will get at it. If you want an easy way to make a graphic design, then just follow these steps: First, find an image of your favorite character. Then, insert the image into Kittl. Next, remove the background of the character and then change the background color to whatever you want. Finally, export it and set it as your wallpaper. If you run out of ideas on what you can design, then just ask your friends or family! Finally, you have so many options on what you can design, all you have to do is think and let your creativity take over.

Now that you know how to make a graphic design, you can save the skill for the future, or you can try to get better at it. If you want to get better at it, all you have to do is find a small business, music artist, producer, anything really, and just ask if they need a logo for their album or anything important that they’re working on. If you get declined, don’t worry, just move on to the next person. If you’re wondering where you can find these businesses, you can find them on social media. Many new Spotify artists put their songs out on Tiktok and they need better album covers. You can also look on instagram, because there’s so many clothing brands on there. You can go to their direct messages and ask if they want or need a better logo. However, if you want to get your name out there, or if you want to design for bigger businesses, then you have to make your designs stand out! You have to make something unique; add something special so that when people look at your graphic designs, they can say: “oh look at the ____, Josh made this!”

Overall, graphic design can help you make your own brand, logo, or wallpaper, by giving you the tools to express yourself. You can make money and connections off of graphic designing, you can benefit from it a lot. So finally, let me send you off with something that helped me so much. Whenever you want to do something but you get distracted easily, just think about doing the first move. The first move could be opening the first page of a book, but in our case, it would be creating an account on Kkittl. That’s all you have to do to start, create a Kittl account. The first move will set off a chain reaction of other moves, because after you do the first move your mind will say: “Oh I already created an account I might as well try to make a graphic design.” This strategy will help you so much whenever you don’t feel like doing something important. So, before you click off this blog I have one question for you, the reader: When are you going to start?
