Have you ever been bored in the house? So bored where even sleep seems boring? Of course you have! Everybody has. Well I have a suggestion for you. Boxing! You should start boxing because it is great exercise, a good way to meet new people and gain new connections, and is something purposeful to do when you are bored.
Boxing is a great exercise because it focuses on all parts of your body. Your upper body, core, lower body, and it includes cardio too. When you start training and conditioning- you will have to push yourself and work hard, but most boxing trainers force you to go at your own pace. If you train consistently, you will notice yourself growing like getting better with skills, and gaining endurance to do conditioning longer. This can be motivation to want to keep getting better, and to keep putting in work even when it might be hard. You can also learn a lesson from this; “Consistency is key”.
I would say boxing is a good way to meet new people and gain new connections because If you have nothing to do, you can go to a boxing gym and just have fun working out, give yourself a goal to meet there, or even just clear your mind. When I first started boxing I didn’t know anybody except the trainer. I first started around 6 years old, and I was the only kid under the age of 10, so obviously I didn’t have any people to connect with there. But, as time went on and I started boxing and practicing more and more, I started to have things to talk about with the other people there. Once I started talking to the other people after a while, the awkward barrier was broken, so we started talking about even more things that we related about. Over time, my bond with the people at boxing only grew stronger. Not only do you meet people who you train with, but you also can meet people at tournaments. Many people show up to tournaments from gyms all over the city. If you do become passionate about boxing, tournaments are a good way to get your name out there and become known.
Boxing can be something meaningful to do if you are extremely bored. Around 36% of people say they are bored, not because they have nothing to do, but they have nothing meaningful to do. If you try boxing, you can give yourself a goal to reach in many aspects of boxing. It can be a physical goal such as getting more definition in your legs or getting your core tighter, but it can also be a mental goal like saying that you will push yourself to run a little longer or jab a little quicker. If you have nothing to do, you can go to a boxing gym and just have fun working out, give yourself a goal to meet there, or even just clear your mind. When you are bored, it means you don’t have anything to do with a purpose, so when you go to a boxing gym- obviously you can give yourself a purpose there and will feel like you need to get something done. In this way, boxing can motivate people to do something productive. This can also boost some people’s morale. If people feel like they’re rotting in their home, and start going to a boxing gym- it could make them feel proud of themselves.
If you have nothing to do, you can go to a boxing gym and just have fun working out, give yourself a goal to meet there, or even just clear your mind. When you are bored, it means you don’t have anything purposeful to do, so when you go to a boxing gym- obviously you can give yourself a purpose. When you fulfill that purpose, you can be proud of yourself afterwards. You can also try boxing to find friends, and build connections with others who possibly like similar things as you using boxing as an icebreaker. Lastly, boxing is great exercise. Not only does it work on all physical aspects of your body, but it can improve your mental durability. Overall, boxing can be an opportunity to clear your mind, be active, meet new people, and boost your own morale, so try it because you never know what you will gain from it!
