My Parents Deserve the World

My parents are the two most important people in my life. They’ve always been there for me, no matter what. Whether things were good or bad, they stood by my side. I want to honor them because of all the love and support they give me every single day. They’ve taught me that family means being there for one another, and their actions show me that love isn’t just about saying “I love you,” it’s about showing up and caring through the hard moments. I feel really lucky to have parents who care so deeply and make sure I know I’m never alone.

My mom is one of the strongest and kindest people I’ve ever known. Even when things go wrong, she always finds a way to stay calm and push through. She listens to me when I need someone to talk to, and she helps me when I’m struggling or confused. She works really hard whether it’s at her job, around the house, or just making sure we all have what we need and that inspires me to try my best, even when something feels tough. She doesn’t just take care of me, she teaches me how to take care of myself, and that’s a gift I’ll always be thankful for.

My dad, he  is strong, wise, and honest. He always reminds me not to give up, even when things feel impossible. Whenever I doubt myself, he’s the first to remind me that I’m capable and that I shouldn’t stop trying. He also knows how to make me laugh, even on bad days, and that always helps more than he knows. I look up to him because he always tries to do what’s right, even when it’s hard. He teaches me to speak the truth, stand up for myself, and do the right thing even when no one’s watching. That’s something I carry with me every day.

There’s one memory I’ll never forget that shows how much I love my parents. On March 7th, which is both my 7th birthday and their first wedding anniversary, we were at my aunt’s house on my dad’s side. They were planning to throw me my first real birthday party in the front yard. I was so excited, but I also knew it was their special day too. When I asked what they were doing for their anniversary, they said, “Nothing.” That surprised me, and it gave me an idea. While they were out picking up party stuff, my auntie and I planned a surprise anniversary party for them. It was a busy Wednesday in Jamaica, full of running around and decorating, but it turned out amazing. When my parents arrived back, they were astonished and excited. Later that night, during the party, we all gave little speeches, and I told them how much I loved them and how thankful I was for everything they’ve done for me and for each other.

Now that I’m almost 15, I can see how much they love and support each other . It’s not just hugs and kisses. It’s working through arguments. It’s staying together during hard times. It’s helping each other, and making sacrifices, and still smiling through the chaos. Today, as they renew their vows at this church, I feel proud. Proud to be their child. Proud to see how far they’ve come. And proud to be part of this day. Thank you, Mom and Dad, for showing me what real love looks like. I love you so much, and I’ll always remember the things you’ve taught me not just in words, but in how you live every day.
