Dear Little Ayzarie
Understand that stressing over our grades is the least of our problems. If only we knew that high school didn’t look at 6th grade grades and mistakes are meant to happen. 6th grade was only the beginning and all our hard work over the years paid off. If only we knew the people that we trusted the most ended up being the ones who were against us. If only.
Now that you’re going to middle school, don’t underestimate 6th grade. For the past 6 years you were always the smartest in the room and didn’t have to put in more effort than other kids in your grade. So once you got to 6th grade, you had the same mindset. By the first class you understood that you weren’t in elementary school any more and that middle school took more effort.
By the first semester was over we had gotten our first ever C. To some it may be passing but in our household it wasn’t even the bare minimum. You didn’t know how to feel, in fact you were even going to cry. You were told that 6th grade grades matter when you apply to high school. You didn’t know what high school you were planning on going to, but we knew a C wasn’t going to cut it. Once we showed our mom she was also shocked. She was not used to coming home with a C.
Once the second quarter came we got another C. They also said that the parents had to sign the report card ,then you had to return it back to your teacher. OMG. Bringing my first C back home was already pushing it to its limit, so bringing back another C home we didn’t know what to expect. When you brought the report card back to our mom she was mad but also understanding.
When the 3rd quarter came back around you were determined to get on the honor roll. So you worked and worked, till you couldn’t anymore. In the end it was worth it. You ended up getting all A honor. When you found out that you were the happiest you’ve ever been.
At my school we had this thing called the top 10. The top ten were just the top 10 people in each grade. But you had to work for it. In order to be a part of the top ten you had to have perfect attendance, in uniform, good grades, behavior and test scores. Every quarter we would have a ceremony for people who had perfect attendance, A honor roll, A-B honor roll, and good behavior.
The day before the ceremony my principal came in to tell us who was in the top ten. You ended up being placed 11. Which was pretty good but you were also confused because you had all the requirements and was the only on the A honor roll but you didn’t let it get to you. Then next day it’s time to introduce the 10 ten 6th grade. You ended up being #9 which was shocking because you were 11 the day before. You were very excited because this was your first time in the top ten. So remember to not worry to much because at the end it all pays off.
