Don’t Stress It.

Dear Little Nevaeh,

You wouldn’t believe what life is like for me—and for you in the future. Remember, this could be your life if you play this out right, work hard, and never give up. I know you’re probably in shock right now because you’re about to transfer to a brand-new school, and you found out less than a month before summer. It seems scary because you’ll have to leave behind familiar faces, teachers, and friends. Even though this change feels overwhelming, I promise it is one of the best things that will ever happen to you. This new environment will help you grow, challenge yourself, and prepare you for a successful future.

You might be like, “OMG, what will I say to the other kids? Will they like me? What if I don’t make any friends?” Those thoughts are completely normal, but don’t let them take over. You’ll quickly realize that everyone is trying to fit in, just like you. Be kind, smile, and be yourself. Your new school offers advanced classes that will challenge you academically and help you reach your full potential. Instead of being afraid of the unknown, look at it as an exciting opportunity to learn and grow.

Now here’s the most important advice I can give you: FOCUS. Stay on top of your assignments, pay attention in class, and don’t wait until the last minute to complete projects. It’s okay to have fun and make new friends, but remember why you’re there. School comes first. When you stay organized and work ahead, you’ll feel less stressed, and your teachers will notice your dedication. Building good habits now will make high school, college, and even your future career much easier.

Another important lesson is to treat everyone with kindness and respect. Respect your teachers because they want to help you succeed, and respect your classmates because everyone deserves to be treated with kindness. The way you treat people says a lot about your character. Be someone others can trust, encourage, and look up to.

Most importantly, YOU ARE PERFECT JUST THE WAY YOU ARE. Never change yourself to fit in or make someone else happy. You’re a student-athlete, and balancing school and sports takes discipline, responsibility, and determination. Be proud of that. Stop worrying about what other people think because, honestly, they’re too busy worrying about themselves. The only opinion that truly matters is your own. Focus on becoming a better version of yourself every day instead of comparing yourself to others.

As you grow, you’ll discover new passions. One of those passions is volleyball. You joined your school’s volleyball team and loved every minute of it. Because of your dedication, you joined a volleyball club where you improved your skills, met amazing teammates, and built lasting friendships. Of course, there were challenges along the way, but those obstacles taught you how to advocate for yourself, communicate confidently, and remember that your voice matters.

Whenever life feels difficult, remember that every challenge is an opportunity to grow stronger. Believe in yourself, keep a positive attitude, and never stop learning. Continue working hard, chasing your dreams, and embracing new experiences. I am so proud of everything you’ve accomplished, and I know your future is filled with even greater opportunities. Keep being brave, kind, and confident because your journey is only just beginning.

With love,

Your Future Self
