“Demon Slayer” is an action anime that was voted the Film of The Year at the 2026 Anime Awards. Many people are hesitant to watch anime because they think it’s going to be cringey or the plots are very predictable. Honestly, I was also hesitant to watch “Demon Slayer” because I thought it was going to be like any other anime. Unlike other predictable stories, “Demon Slayer” is filled with constant twists and turns. In other shows or movies most of the heroes always win, right? Not in “Demon Slayer”. By the end, you will be begging me to tell you where you can watch “Demon Slayer.”
“Demon Slayers” characters consist of main character Tanjiro Kamado and his friends, Nezuko Kamado, Zenitsu Agatsuma, Inosuke Hashibira, and many more people who have helped him throughout his tough journey. Though I can not name all of the characters right now each of them have helped him develop his strengths in a different way. For context,I will be mentioning people who have the title of a Hashira. When I say Hashira it’s a person who is one of the nine-highest ranking and most elite swordsmen. Each Hashira has mastered a specialized Breathing Style that is tailored to their own strengths.
Demon Slayer starts off with a boy named Tanjiro Kamado, whose family was killed by the Demon King, Muzan Kibutsuji, while he was at a nearby town selling charcoal. Tanjiro returns to the devastating scene but to his surprise his younger sister Nezuko Kamado had survived and was only half demon. Nezuko, though she survived, was in critical condition so Tanjiro rushed to find his sister help but got stopped by the water hashira, Giyu Tamioka. Giyu tries to kill Nezuko but soon realizes that Nezuko didn’t want to kill anyone instead she was protecting her brother. Impressed by Nezuko and Tanjiro’s bond he decides to send them to Sakonji Urokodaki, Giyu’s former trainer, to prepare Tanjiro for the Final Selection that will make him officially a part of the Demon Slayer corps. Tanjiro is sent up to the mountains and finds Sakonjin who at first doubts that Tanjiro has the heart and strength to kill demons. To make sure Tanjiro passes the Final Selection Sakonji put him through a year of excruciating training, teaching him endurance, swordsmanship, and Total Concentration Breathing. After a year of rigorous training Tanjiro is finally ready for the Final selection, where he has to survive seven consecutive nights in a mountain that is filled with demons. While in the mountains Tanjiro meets a cowardly boy named Zenitsu and a wild boar headed boy named Inosuke. They help each other survive and make it to the end together. The three are officially a part of the Demon Slayer corps and go on missions to defeat demons that are hurting people. After defeating a high ranked demon Tanjiro has to choose between saving villagers or saving Nezuko from being burned by the sun. Unexpectedly Nezuko conquers the sun which nearly no demon can do because of this she gains the attention of Demon King, Muzan Kibutsuji. Both Tanjiro and his friends now have to undergo Hashira training to prepare for the inevitable war that is going to happen.
If you are still hesitant to watch Demon Slayer, let’s see if I can change that right now. Demon Slayer is an action and thriller based anime that demonstrates hardship and teamwork. This anime goes into depth about each character’s backstories and their past has made them want to work harder and prove themselves to each other and people who doubted them. This show is both exhilarating and at times can be very sad. Demon Slayer is a show that can easily distract you when you need it and is a good thing to watch in your free time. This is one of the biggest reasons why I am so passionate about watching Demon Slayer and wanting other people to watch it. This show had gotten me through hard times and gave me something to look forward to after a long day. To this day I firmly believe that Demon Slayer is one of the best anime when it comes to the characters and their backstories or the animations when the big fighting scenes happened.
Hopefully after reading this you will have at least a small interest in watching this show because I truly think this anime is worth watching and spending your time. This series is definitely one of the best action anime, in my opinion. Thank you for reading and hopefully you’ll give Demon Slayer a chance.
